Community’s runners all set for London Marathon
With this year’s London Marathon now just days away, we conclude our preview by continuing our look at members of the community who will be taking on the 26 mile course to raise money for various charities and organisations.
Kisharon is hoping for record profits from their eight runners which includes Richard Hunter, CEO of ad agency McCann Erickson Tel Aviv and his friend Josef Elias, an Israeli economist, who will be flying in from Israel. Former Kisharon business manager Rachael Lindsay, along with Lewis Gelfand, Lloyd Kafton, Shimon Lev, Alexandre Neiss and Bernard Fromson complete their contingent. Emunah will also have eight runners competing on their behalf. Power-walking Alison Cohen, the charity’s events executive, was the first to sign up and says: “I’m excited about the race – it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.” Other first-time runners are accountant Marc Jackson, Uri Nackash, Yonatan Wilson and Claire Gothelf. Charlotte Hamilton will be running her second London marathon, with veterans Flora Frank (also competing for Norwood), Israel-based accountant Barry Sacher and 13-year-old JFS student David Stone completing their set-up. Deborah Goldman will be taking part in her first marathon, running it for Chai Cancer Care. Running for World Jewish Relief is first time marathon runner Michael Ilsen, who’s father came over to the UK on the Kindertransport.
