MPs join call to pull comic book showing ‘Hipster Hitler’
MPs this week joined the call to pull a “dangerous” comic book from the shelves, after concern was raised that it made Hitler look “cool”.
‘Hipster Hitler,’ by James Carr and Archana Kumar, is billed as a parody by Waterstones, Amazon and other retailers, featuring the murderous Nazi dictator into a trendy geek wearing black-rimmed glasses, eating cashew nuts, and riding a bike with a basket.
The book’s authors and publishers say it uses “a combination of puns, parody, dark humour and visual gags” to poke fun at Hitler and the Third Reich, but Conservative Member of Parliament for Finchley and Golders Green Mike Freer was unconvinced.

“The book is frankly dangerous,” he said. “It makes Hitler seem acceptable. Anything that attempts to make Hitler and his murders ‘cool’ is misguided and offensive. The publishers should think again.”
The online strip, which is now several years old, has attracted a large fanbase for its lampooning of the hipster urban trend, with jokes such as a T-shirt proclaiming: “1941: A Race Odyssey” and a Fuhrer berating his compatriots for trying too hard in the Olympic Games.
