HENDON UNITED A 4 BLIZZARD STORM 1
Hendon claimed a much-needed win thanks to two goals from Dovi Fehler, plus strikes from Ari Last and Greg Corin.

Manager David Garbacz told jewishnews.co.uk: “This was a big win for us and we are really hoping it is the first of many in the second half of the season, it has given us belief and some confidence heading into some massive cup games.

“Blizzard played really well – they defended brilliantly for 60 minutes and for a long time it looked like it was going to be one of those days again. We played well – must have had near on 30 attempts on goal but for ages just couldn’t seem to score. When we did finally equalize through the excellent Ari Last, their heads dropped a bit and in the end we ran out comfortable winners. It was great to get back out on the Hadley pitch again after so many weeks off and overall it was a decent quality match played in good spirit and refereed well.

“This is just what we need to get going in 2016 – we have set targets for the rest of the season and those include silverware – I wouldn’t be writing us off just yet.”

MACCABI LONDON LIONS A 1 FC TEAM A 2
Team boosted their chances of avoiding the drop as they curtailed the Lions’ recent run of good form.

Kane Gilbey and Ben Hariely scored for Team, with James Gold on target for the hosts.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 2 OAKWOOD A 2
Rob Richman’s Raiders lost their 100 percent winning start to the season as they were held to a point by the O’s.

Ricky Engleman and Nyv Bogaire scored for the champions, who are now eight points clear at the top of the table. Manager Rob Richman told jewishnews.co.uk: “Firstly I must say this was a really superb game of football. Oakwood have strengthened from last year and they played with great confidence and ability particularly in the first half. For our part we were very slow to get going and our first half was not up to the levels we have prided ourselves on throughout this season. We came back into the game in the second half and were disappointed to concede a second when we felt their was a strong case of offside.

“However, we kept on going and despite some heroics by Blain in the Oakwood goal we finally managed to grab the equaliser through super sub Bogaire with twenty second remaining. It’s an important point for us as it maintains our unbeaten run. Full credit to Oakwood they are as good a side as we have faced this season and I have no doubt they’ll be challenging all the way in all competitions this season. We’ll stay focused on our next game this coming weekend and try to better the performance and result.”

Dave Woolman scored twice for Oakwood.

FC TEAM B 3 REAL SOSOBAD 1
Team claimed a much-needed win as they moved into mid-table stability.

Danny Moss scored twice, with player-manager Mitch Young also on target. Young told jewishnews.co.uk: “Missing nine players, we were literally done to the bare bones of only 11 with myself playing injured and Gideon Moss forced to play his first competitive game in five years, but what an unbelievable team spirit we are showing.

“Everyone in the squad is playing their part. Going 0-1 down at half-time, we regrouped and knew Salmon and Mossy would cause them problems and that is what happened. It was a tough pitch to play on and both teams had chances but this was our day. We are playing catch up in the league and we are taking each game as it comes but I am proud of everyone who stepped up today.”

Dan Lassman scored Sosobad’s consolation, for whom manager Daniel Shafron told jewishnews.co.uk: “I felt we were very unlucky not to win today. We (Jamie Shaw) had four or five incredible chances to extend our lead before they scored their equaliser. We (Jamie Shaw) then went on to miss a further handful of chances, some clear-cut, before they took the lead. It just wasn’t our day. Perhaps on any surface other than a mud bath we would have had got our just rewards and Jamie Shaw would have put at least one away! I’m proud of the effort the boys put in, the pitch was the worst we’ve played on for a long time, but we worked hard for each other and created some good goal scoring opportunities.”

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B 4 BRIXTON OLD BOYS 4
An eight goal epic saw the sides share the points, but both would have been hoping to pick up the win which would have seen them edge away from the bottom of the table.

Jake Gilbert scored twice for the Raiders, with Josh Green and Scott Waissel also on target. Oren Sheldon scored twice for Brixton, with Scott Greenfield and Johnny Borchardt earning the visitors a point.

OAKWOOD B 5 BRADY MACCABI 2
Oakwood put themselves right in the title shake-up, while also denting Brady’s as they turned in the performance of the day.

Bobby Abrams was their match-winner, netting a hat-trick, while Dan Seligman and Jacob Richler Kleiman, from the penalty spot, was also on target. Dan Geey also missed from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game.

Manager Jason Stein told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was just a brilliant performance. As complete a performance as anything I have ever seen from us and it puts us in a great position now.

“We really took the game to Brady and played on the front foot throughout. They’re a terrific side Brady with some quality players and at times we had to withstand a lot of pressure. Thankfully our defence was as good as the attack.

“At half-time I emphasised that the game was far from over and I’m delighted we kept closed the game out so well. It’s the high point of my time at Oakwood and we go to Woodford next week for another very tough game.”

Reiss Mogilner and an own goal claimed the visitor’s goals.

REDBRIDGE B 1 WOODFORD WANDERERS 2
Woodford kept their title challenge well and truly on track as they came from goal down to turn in a superb second half performance and secure what could prove to be a vital three points.

Richard Caplin put the hosts ahead with a superb 20-yard strike, but with little separating the sides, James Ryan equalised just before the break through James Ryan, following some fine wing play from Paul Biller.

Harrison Midda scored the winner on the hour mark with a stunning 25-yard free-kick.

Joint-manager Daryl Kay told jewishnews.co.uk: “Jerome [Marks] and I were conscious of our previews three results which saw us getting overran in the midfield, so decided to change things around with skipper Adam Poole and Darryl Green starting as two holding midfielders, but on a sticky and heavy pitch were struggled to find our feet and went a goal down.

“We made some changes at half-time to fix the errors and claimed the win. It was a very, very good win today. The title is totally in our hands and we go into next weeks game full of confidence.”

Both sides earned a deserved point each.

Leor Harel and an own goal earned the Greens a point, with manager Rob Shooman telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a fair end to end game, with no incidents at all and all played in the right spirit.

“We created many more chances than them, but if you don’t convert them, you don’t win games. We were very rusty as we have not played since before Christmas, but I would say we have blown away most of the cobwebs and will be very focused for our next game.

“We showed great commitment and spirit which I was very pleased with, but lacked a little composure at crucial times, this will come with playing more.”

Robert Rodney headed home Bilbaum’s equaliser on the hour mark, before less than 60 seconds later, Jacob Brunner converted from the penalty spot, having been scythed down as he tried to shoot. Bilbaum boss Nick Shinder told jewishnews.co.uk: “We can be proud of our performance.”

CATFORD & BROMLEY 2 FC TEAM C 2
Eight hosted ninth, which unsurprisingly ended in a share of the spoils.

Catford player-manager Jeff Gotch’s penalty and Yarden Sharon’s close-range effort had put them 2-0 up. Gotch told jewishnews.co.uk: “For some reason we stopped playing at 2-0, missed at least five good chances and found ourselves conceding a soft goal from a corner.

“But in all fairness they were the better side in the second half and deserved the point. Onwards and upwards.”

Oli Senchal and Dan Alfreds scored for Team.

Scrabble made it 14 wins from 14 games – and did it in some style against the side who went into the game as their nearest challengers.

Danny Sherman scored twice – including the opener after barely 20 seconds – with Jonathan Peters, Elliot Espinoza and Zack McLeod also all on target.

Real Hendon player-manager Chaim Gothold told jewishnews.co.uk: “We lost to the better team today but didn’t help going 2-0 down inside ten minutes due to silly mistakes.

“Hopefully we can now go on a nice run till the end of the season.”
