Created his goalscoring chance by dummying the goalkeeper before firing home a low shot

Produced a clever and intricate lob from inside the area

Received the ball outside the left edge of the box and hit a superb effort over the Scrabble goalkeeper and into the corner of the net -think Joe Cole vs Sweden 2006 and you’re not far off!

Superb build-up play from Raiders saw Oli Nathan play a delightful ball to Marc Woolfe in the box, he flicked it onto Haringman who beat the onrushing goalkeeper

On the edge of the area, left of the goal, produced a left-footed strike with this laces which flew into the far corner side-netting – goalkeeper didn’t even move.

PETER MORRISON CUP THIRD ROUND: (number in brackets represents Division in team)

LEEDS MACCABI 1 OAKWOOD A (PREM) 2
Oakwood’s trip up north proved to be a productive one as they came away from Leeds with a win thanks to a former Leeds player.

The MGBSFL side took the lead in the 20th minute through Kyle Bentwood, but Leeds claimed a deserved equaliser 15 minutes from time from Richard Black’s superb header.

However, it was a former Leeds player who sealed the tie for the O’s three minutes later when from a corner, a mix up in the area led to David Woolman tapping home.

Oakwood manager Daniel Kristall told jewishnews.co.uk: “We had one aim: to win and be in the next round. With a squad stretched to its limit we were delighted to beat a fired up Leeds side. On a pitch more suited to beach football we put together a competitive squad and in the end had too much for Leeds. We were definitely the deserved winners.

“Good luck to my former team in their quest to retain the MJSL and Shonn trophies. (a double to follow last year’s treble). If they hit the heights of Sunday’s battling performance, I see no reason why they won’t achieve this and I look forward to going back to Leeds and watching them pick up silverware in May.

“For us we move on to an even tougher game against Hendon in the Anekstein semi-final. That should be a cracker.”

Oakwood’s Ric Blank told jewishnews.co.uk: “The Leeds assistant manager said that they won the moral victory yesterday. For that we salute them and wish them all the best in the next round of the Peter Moral Trophy.”

Leeds’ assistant manger Elliot Lewis told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a very closely fought game. Oakwood came into the game as big favourites, but Leeds were champions out there today and came out the moral winners. Good luck to Oakwood in the next round.”

Hendon’s Premier Division class shone through as they continued their quest for a cup double this year.

Ari Last scored twice, with Zac Lewis, Ethan Zone and Avi Korman also all on target. Manager David Garbacz told jewishnews.co.uk: “For 60 minutes we were in total control of this tie – we went into half-time 3-0 up and it could have been at least double that considering the amount of chances we created.

“Some of the football we played in that period was right back to our best with skipper Ari Last hugely influential in driving us forward, but then we slackened off in the final period of the match and they scored two decent goals which was disappointing from our point of view.

“Credit to SPEC who fought hard for the entire match and never let us relax – other teams could well have folded in light of what we threw at them early and they deserved their goals late on. We are proud holders of this cup and now we find ourselves in the latter stages of both cups this year after an indifferent league campaign. We are more determined than ever to keep these runs going and it will take a very good performance to knock us out.”

Ashley Burns and Marc Cohen scored for SPEC, for whom player-manager Ricky Lawrence told jewishnews.co.uk: “Going 1-0 down so early was never going to help, but we rallied in the second half despite them making it 4-0 very early and with 10 minutes to go, Russell Corin has made a triple save to prevent it being 4-3.

“Hendon are an excellent side who play good football. They definitely deserved the win today and good luck to them in the next round.”

Reiss Mogilner and Oli Leigh scored for the joint-table toppers, but goals from Fabio Rivieccio and Jamie Crawford denied them the win.

Redbridge claimed a much-needed win in their bid to escape the drop as goals from Carl Dobrin, Brad Gayer and David Fialka saw them to the points.

Joint-manager Sam Rank told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was fantastic performance today from the boys. All 1-14 were outstanding. The squad have brought into the style of play and new formation this week and did not disappoint. Special mentions to Adam Noble and Brad Gayer who simply just class today.

“We move onto next week big derby game against Real Sosobad, were I am expecting fireworks and another big performance from the lads.”

Richard Salmon replied for Team, for whom player-manager Mitch Young told jewishnews.co.uk: “This was our worst performance of the season. Missing players did not help however Redbridge deserved the win and we hope to do a lot better next time we play them.”

Bilbaum moved up a couple of places to consolidate their mid-table placing thanks to this win.

Ed Green, Jacob Brunner and Robert Rodney were all on target, with manager Nick Shinder telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a dominating, determined and drilled performance. We created lots of chances and were unlucky to concede. Now we focus on Faithfold C to continue our unbeaten 2016.”

Jon Kay scored for the visitors.

The Lions remain on track to challenge Scrabble for the title, their latest win, being this emphatic one against Team.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 3 SCRABBLE 4
Scrabble made it 16 wins from 16 – though only just as they edged this seven-goal epic.

Elliot Espinoza scored twice, with Zak McLeod and Danny Sherman also on target.

Will Ufland, Nick Haringman and Oli Telvi scored in vain for the Raiders.

Manager Ray Abrahams told jewishnews.co.uk: “What a fantastic game of football. We were hit by injuries and absences before this game and we made a slow start gifting Raiders a two-goal start. But once again my players responded after half-time and we hit back to take a 4-2 lead.

“The resilience and determination in this squad is incredible and all credit to the lads who came through with another win to earn the three points. I must say that the Raiders are a great bunch of lads who do credit to this league and they can play a bit too! We’ve come through two of our toughest games against them this season and not many teams will take six points off them. I hope that they are there in the mix at the end of the season for a promotion place.”

Raiders manager Zack Gothelf told jewishnews.co.uk: “We were gutted at full-time, and that says a lot. We pushed Scrabble close last time out and we had one hand on the three points in this one. Unfortunately we couldn’t see it through but we’ve got to take a lot of heart from the performance. We know if we play like that for the rest of the season we’ll be right up there when it comes to promotion. Fair play to Scrabble, they deserve to win this league. We’ve had two fantastic matches against them, and hopefully we’ll play them again at some point.”

REAL HENDON 3 CATFORD & BROMLEY 1
Real Hendon moved three points clear in second spot thanks to this win.

Lolu Hibbert scored twice, with Danny Steel also on target. Hendon’s Motty Korman told jewishnews.co.uk: “We did well to come from a goal down in difficult conditions. It was a scrappy game but we are pleased to take all three points, especially as we were missing several regulars.”

Catford player-manager Jeff Gotch had headed them in front, he told jewishnews.co.uk: “We weren’t at the races in the second half, and got punished although we did have three efforts cleared off line.”

TEMPLE FORTUNE 2 HENDON UNITED B 2
Hendon promotion hopes suffered a blow as they were held by the Division’s bottom club.

Fortune outbattled Hendon for much of the first half and led 2-0 at the break, but Hendon boss Adam Glekin rang the changes early in the second half and his changes had the desired effect as Hendon began to dominate. Bobby Benson pulled one back against his former side, and Benni Sluckis equalised with around 10 minutes to go. Hendon pressed for what would’ve been a vital winner but couldn’t find a way past a stubborn Fortune defence.

Hendon manager Adam Glekin told jewishnews.co.uk: “The pitch was pretty awful, so we knew that the standard of football wasn’t going to be great. But what was unforgivable was our effort levels and desire in the first half, it was probably one of the worst 45 mins of my time in charge. I hold my hands up and take some responsibility as I didn’t play the strongest side available to me, but the players that were out there are capable of a lot better.

“It’s fair to say that despite it being Valentine’s Day, I didn’t show much love towards my team at half-time. We improved after the break but I’m disappointed to only get a point. Having said that, credit has to go to Temple Fortune. They wanted it more than we did today, and even when we did get on top they defended well. Their central midfielder was superb and dominated the game, and Adam Lenz up front on his own caused us problems all game.”

Adam Lenz had scored twice for Fortune to give them a 2-0 lead, for whom player-manager Jonathan Cohen told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a tough game on an awful pitch but we were superb for over an hour of that game and honestly I think Adam Glekin and his team were surprised by our performance. They dominated us a few months ago but this was anything but one-way traffic.  We were fully deserving of our 2-0 lead – we won every header, every 50/50 and scored two very good goals.  They created chances in the first half but our goalkeeper on the day Nicky Stone was in great form.

“The second half display from us was still good but a missed decision, resulting in a throw-in awarded in Hendon’s favour and one of the players getting stuck in the mud, kicked the turf giving Bobby Benson the freedom to do what he does so well and score. They pushed for a second and got their reward from our only piece of slack defending.  Hendon might argue that they weren’t at their best and were worthy of a point, but I feel if any team was going to nick it we were probably more deserving.”
