BOCA JEWNIORS (2) 2 HMH U18 WILDCATS 1
Boca ensured they weren’t on the wrong end of a cup upset as they held on to see off the youngsters of HMH.
Anton Nyman headed them ahead, and although HMH equalised soon after, Boca went through thanks to an own goal – all three strikes arriving in the first 20 minutes of the game.
Nyman told jewishnews.co.uk: “The first 20 minutes were an odd one – we were on the back foot initially, had two attacks, two corners and scored two goals from them – and then we actually came into the game and started playing and looked good money for our win after that.”
Anthony Meir headed in Ariel Rahamim’s free-kick for the equaliser, with manager Nir Wegrzyn telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a game we dominated from start to finish. We started with control and pressure, with no real chances being created for the first 15 minutes. They scored from their first attack, we equalised three minutes later, before a deflected corner saw them go back in front.
“From thereon in, it was constant pressure for the remainder of the half, while the second was a tale of missed chances, but our constant pressure couldn’t yield an equaliser as a mixture of great defending and goalkeeping kept us at bay.
“C’est la Vie…and as their manager said, the best team lost, but fair play to them for a great disciplined and defensive display.”

Catford claimed their first win of the season as a hat-trick from player-manager Jeff Gotch helped them book their place in the next round.
Jamie Sinai, Callion McGregor and an own goal completed the scoring, with Gotch telling jewishnews.co.uk: “We finally got the monkey off our back and it’s been a long time coming.
“We came up against a good Masters side, but this week were not going to let our lead at half-time go We pushed on and scored four more, though in all fairness to them, they gave us a few scares and scored a few of their own. 6-3 is probably is a fair reflection seeing as we also missed a late penalty.”
Darren Cohen scored twice for the Masters, with their third being an own goal. Manager Jon Yantin told jewishnews.co.uk: “When you hit the bar three times in a match – you know it isn’t a game that you’re going to win.
“After a smooth opening goal, Catford finished five chances smartly in the six-yard box whereas Masters had numerous chances but couldn’t convert.”

SPEC claimed their first win of the season, thanks to goals from Josh Hershman, Dan Amram and Marc Cohen.
SPEC manager Ricky Lawrence told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was great to finally get a win. It wasn’t the most exciting game but we got the job done.”

The O’s won this all-Division One clash thanks to goals from Marc Hymanson, Nick Harris and an own goal.
Manager Jason Stein told jewishnews.co.uk: “I’m delighted to record my first win over Raiders B in my third attempt. Raiders is an institution I respect immensely and while they weren’t at their strongest this week, it is never an easy game against them. And it proved that way.
“I thought we were comfortably the better side and seemed to be camped on their penalty box. But our final ball was lacking and it was a bit Arsenal at times. Once we went 1-0 ahead I did thought we’d cruise it, but the fact they hit straight back was a lesson in complacency. But we kept playing our football and snatched it late on with Marc Hymanson scoring a lovely goal.
“Four weeks ago I enjoyed one of my regular fireside chats with my chairman, mentor and idol Richard Black and he told me I would learn a lot more about my side in the next four weeks with matches against Lions B, Brady and two encounters with Raiders B. And Richard was right. Two wins and two draws later I know what I now know we are a proper force this year and we’re looking to challenge for honours.
“Bring it on.”

Two goals from Daniel Orgel helped the Division One leaders book their place into the second round.
Sam McCarthy and Scott Kay were also on target, with manager Daniel Shafron telling jewishnews.co.uk: “I thought we played well, created plenty of chances and scored some well worked goals. Credit to the opposition, they didn’t make it easy, pressed us well and had a couple of useful players but overall we had too much quality and the win was fairly routine.”
Ed Green and Jacob Brunner scored for Bilbaum, with manager Nick Shinder telling jewishnews.co.uk: “Although a cup exit, we can take lots of positives from our battling display. We are consistently improving and settling as a team, and hope to take this vigour into our next league game.”

PREMIER DIVISION:
BLIZZARD STORM 1 HARMEN 8
Harmen claimed their second win of the season as they ran out emphatic winners.
James Gershfield, Daniel Green and Adam Arnold scored two each, with Sam Castle and Elliott Stern completing the rout.
Joint-manager Joel Alterman told jewishnews.co.uk: “We took a squad of 15 and it looked before the match that they could have done with a couple of our subs to turn out for them as they looked light on personnel.
“In truth, we never looked like losing this one with Sam Castle and Elliott Stern putting us 2 up after 15 minutes although Blizzard did give us a scare on the half hour mark when they pulled the game back to 2-1 but a James Gershfield brace in the last 10 of the first half saw us go in leading 4-1.
“Injuries played a big part on the day, they lost their keeper at half time with their manager coming on and then they lost their 2nd choice keeper to injury mid-way through the second half. Meanwhile our free scoring continued, scoring another four in the second half with 2 from Adam Arnold and 2 from Daniel Green who was energetic after coming off the bench for the last 20 minutes.
“A slight downer on the day was a kick in the face to Elliott Stern and although purely accidental, it did need a trip to A&E and 7 stitches just below his bottom lip.”
Adam Levene scored for Storm, for whom player-manager Simon Linden told jewishnews.co.uk: “Harmen must have thought they won the lottery. I had 12 players out, changed goalkeeper three times, played myself at right-back and finished the game with 10 men.
“It’s a blow to lose in this manner but we will come back stronger. I have never known an injury list like it. I hope to have several players back next week and hopefully we can get our season going again. I’m confident I have the right squad to take us forward and stay in this league. Today will never happen again.”

CAMDEN PARK 2 FC TEAM A 0
Camden moved top of the Premier Division table thanks to two goals from Rob Hershkorn.
Manager Will Castle told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was another great performance to make it four wins from four. The whole game was a fantastic battle that we ended up edging and there’s no stopping Rob Hershkorn at the moment as he added another brace to take his impressive tally to eight for the season.
“Today’s win was built on solid foundations at the back and credit to the Khalastchi brothers who were outstanding at centre-back today. Jake Saunders also continued his fine form in the middle of the park and it was also very pleasing to see assistant manager Max Saunders back on the pitch instead of the sidelines.
“This was our first real test since we got thrashed by Hendon and we passed with flying colours. Harmen next week will be even harder so we need to work hard this week on the training ground and make sure we are fully prepared.”

Oakwood kept up their impressive early season form as they made it three wins from four games.
Guy Helman, Brad Wine, Josh Rose and Anthony Kintish were all on target for the visitors.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS A 0 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 3
Raiders made it three wins from three as two goals from Alex Bloch, along with Oscar Wagner’s strike saw Rob Richman’s side to the points.
Richman told jewishnews.co.uk: “I’m really happy with today’s performance and win, we came up against a really young Lions side and were superbly professional to make sure we secured the three points. We defended as well as we have all season and we were clinical when our chances came our way. What’s more pleasing is that even though we were missing a number of key players and despite not played consecutive games yet this season we looked really sharp and very focused.
“Astonishingly Alex Bloch has played for us for eight seasons and it’s taken him just under 100 games to grab his first goal for the club. I suppose it’s not surprising then that having waited so long for the first, his second came just 30 minutes later! A quick word also for Oscar Wagner who at 18 is already a real talent and promises to be a great player in years to come.
“The games now come thick and fast and we are excited to properly get going with our league campaign.”

Redbridge claimed their first win of the season as goals from Ben Chernoff and Josh Orgel saw them to the points.

HENDON B 4 REAL HENDON 1
Hendon moved a point clear at the top of the table thanks to this ultimately comfortable win.
Second half goals from Avi Mocton, Benni Sluckis, Sammy Baron and Gab Saul seeing the hosts to the win.
The visitors goal came from an own goal, with player-manager Chaim Gothold telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a poor performance for us.”

TEMPLE FORTUNE 0 FAITHFOLD C 8
Faithfold claimed their second win of the season with this emphatic win, to move up into fifth spot in the table.
Dan Gordon scored twice, with Dan Yossman, Dave Sherman, Leor Harel, Ben Myatt and Josh Barnett also among the scorers.
Greens manager Rob Shooman told jewishnews.co.uk: “8-0 does tell the story, we dominated from about the 20th minute onwards.
“We were 2-0 up at half-time, they had a few chances but Dan Kosky made some great stops. The second half was totally one way and we took most of our chances whilst they had none of note.
“Credit to them, they never gave up, never stopped trying, but we played some really great stuff.”
