HARMEN 0 NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A 4
Raiders moved up into joint-second spot as two goals each from Matt Stock and Ben Joseph saw them to this impressive win.

Raiders manager Rob Richman told jewishnews.co.uk: “Firstly and most importantly, we wish both George Fierstone and Ollie Leslie speedy recoveries from the injuries they picked up yesterday. We hope they are back on the football pitch before too long.

“Reflecting on the game, we are absolutely delighted to have won a real tough battle against a talented Harmen side. Harmen showed us earlier this season that if you underestimate them they will punish you and they came into this game full of confidence after a good result against Hendon last weekend. This though was up there with the best we have played all season, even playing against the wind in the first half we were compact and solid defensively and threatening in attack. The second half, with the wind with us, we played some quite great football and scored four goals in quick succession without reply. Ben Joseph scored another quite magnificent free kick, his 3rd goal direct from a set piece this season and then Matt Stock added another two exceptional finishes to his ever expanding list of goals. Soon after Joseph added the fourth after he effortlessly curled the ball into the far post from the edge of the box.

HENDON UNITED A 5 NORTH WEST NEASDEN 1
The champions went to the top of the table as they produced another five-star performance to see off Neasden.

Dovi Fehler helped himself to a hat-trick, with Avidan Last and Simon Peterman also getting on the scoresheet.

Manager David Garbacz told jewishnews.co.uk: “This was a good win in difficult conditions – not only because of the cold and the wind, but because we were missing some big players today yet the boys who played today really stepped up to the plate and got us the vital points.

“Today was the type of game where you just wanted to score a few goals, get the win and then get the heck out of that cold as quick as possible. We scored twice very late on to give us a nice advantage at the break, Dovi Fehler was on fire today, looked really sharp from minute one and scored a fine hat-trick which culminated in his trademark backflip celebration. He had to be as Avidan Last was clearly unfit, although he did still get his customary goal, while Avishai Kestenbaum had to go off at half-time with a bad ankle knock which really put us down to the bare bones. Simon Peterman and Ethan Zone again proved what great summer signings they were as they both gave us great energy and drive and pushed others around them on.

Faithfold maintained their good form of late as two goals from Johhny Haik saw them to victory at Oakwood.

Player-manager Zuriel Solomon told jewishnews.co.uk: “Today was probably our best performance of the season where we battled, were organised, defended really well and had an end product. We dominated the game today against a good Oakwood team, they had a good 10 minutes or so, but I felt we were deserved winners.

Two goals from Jake Gilbert, coupled with Nicky Woolf’s strike, saw the Raiders keep up their title challenge.

Manager Jonathan Alderman told jewishnews.co.uk: “Despite missing 13 players this week we put in probably our best performance in four months. It took us 20 minutes to warm up, not surprising given several of the players hadn’t played a minute of competitive football for two months! But once Jake Gilbert scored a clinical first, we eased through the gears and really the only compliant would be that would should have scored a few more.

“The win together with Camden’s defeat to Redbridge means Camden can no longer finish in the top two. Redbridge are nailed on for the title so we are focussed on getting two points from our remaining two games to ensure Los Blancos can’t catch us for second place. To be in this position given how many important players have been missing for so much of the season is in my view as big an achievement as last season’s Invincibles. Now we need to close things out and secure promotion.”

Zac Collins scored twice for Jewdinese, with Zac Brin hitting their third.

Whetstone joint-manager Clive Nathan told jewishnews.co.uk: “That’s two consecutive wins from 2-0 down and shows how this team never gives up. We were missing some important players today due to both unavailability and because we insist on rotating everyone. However, even at 2-0 down the hassling and harrying personified by Dan Cohen got us back in the game. Jonah’s goal to win it was reminiscent, but better than the young Beckham v Wimbledon one from the half way line. An unbelievable strike.

“A word of thanks also to referee Laurence Thorne who was calmness personified as referee when some young heads on the pitch and one or two on the touchline got heated.”
