1) JAMES RYAN (KS REUNITED) – Capped off a superb hat-trick with an exquisite lob over the helpless Lions goalkeeper

2) BARRY GREEN (REAL SOSOBAD) – A great solo effort as Green ran from inside his own half, down the left hand-side, took  it past three Temple players before cutting in and neatly finishing into the bottom right hand corner

3) BARRY GREEN (REAL SOSOBAD) – A fantastic strike from the left hand edge of the box, which flew into the top corner.

Faithfold couldn’t build on their terrific win over Hendon from last week as they suffered at the hands of an impressive Harmen team who are now one of five teams joint at the top of the table.

James Gershfield scored twice, with Jake Gottlieb and Joey Lazare on target for the visitors.

Harmen’s Joe Marsh told jewishnews.co.uk: “Faithfold asked us a few questions in the game on Sunday but we responded in the only way that we know how and that is to play football. Over the last three games the boys have been superb and all 14 boys battled hard today and continuing to attack even after Faithfold scored their two goals.”

Oli Leslie added: “Big mention for Jake Gottleib and James Gershfield whose true class really shone through today and they proved today why they share so many Maccabiah caps between them. We showed in the game that we will challenge on all fronts and every team that plays us should fear whats coming.”

Alex Kaye and Daryl Phillps scored for the Greens, for whom player-manaer Zuriel Solomon told jewishnews.co.uk: “Disappointed with the result, we just didn’t get going. We were always playing catch up and just made too many errors. We were missing a few today but errors made really cost us. Well done to Harmen who have put a decent team together.”

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A 3 MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE 1
Norstar moved top of the table – on goal difference – after they turned in this professional performance to overcome the Lions.

David Dinkin helped himself to a brace, with Jamie Wolfson also on target.

Player-manager Rob Richman told jewishnews.co.uk: “We didn’t reach the heights of last week today but it was a very professional performance and a pleasing win.

“Lions showed us quite some respect before kick off by drafting in the likes of Sloma, Landesberg, Keterman and Kyte to bolster what was already a decent side.

“We stuck to our game plan well and ran out fully deserved winners and if we would have been a little more clinical in the second half we could have had a couple more. The only disappointment was conceding so late in the game as we wanted our third consecutive clean sheet.

“Three matches and three wins marks an excellent September and we now move on to the big one versus Oakwood next week.”

James Gold scored for the Lions, with player-manager Jamie Kyte telling jewishnews.co.uk: “We lost 3-1 to NLR. We lost the battle in midfield where they were very impressive.

“At 1-0 down we had a golden opportunity to equalise but unfortunately we fluffed our lines, if that would have gone in it would have been a very different game. James scored for us. It seems like he’s starting to hit form at the beginning of the season which is very encouraging.

“We’re now looking forward to our next league game against Harmen in a couple of weeks. They’re looking really good this season and it’ll no doubt be a cracking game.”

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 2 NORTH WEST NEASDEN 1
Redbridge, like Norstar, made it two wins from two, as goals from James Jaconelli and Brad Gayer saw them to the points.

Jamie Cooper had put Neasden ahead with a 30-yard shot, for whom manager Stirling kay told jewishnews.co.uk: The game was decided on a penalty decision for them. But it was a good competitive game played in a very good spirit by both teams.

“They played some very good football in the first half, but we showed great team spirit to stay in the game in the second half, did a lot better and finished the second half throwing four players up front.

“For the second week in a row we have lost games because of the amount of attacking players and reg players missing – nine in total. So to lose a game against Redbridge who are expected to be in the top four, I was delighted with the team’s attitude and efforts to get a win.

“In the end we had too many players playing out of positio, we had eight defenders starting the game, to beat a well organised side like Redbridge you have to have the fire power. But we can go away from our last two games knowing with a balanced squad we will be a match for any one.”

WOODFORD WANDERERS 2 FC TEAM A 2
The bottom two sides claimed their first points of the season as they took two points off each other in this entertaining draw.

Adam Aminoff scored from the penalty spot for Team, with David Joseph Cohen also on target. Manager Ben Gilbey told jewishnews.co.uk: “We started poorly and were not great in the first half. A defensive error lead to Woodford’s led to their first which meant we were trailing at the break.

“We came out and played a lot better in the second half. Woodford only had one shot at goal the whole second half, which was their second goal and despite the linesman’s flag being raised for offisde, the referee decided to ignore it, to my disbelief and I think everyone at Fairlop!

“I was proud of the boys though as we managed to show a lot of character and fight back. Aminoff calmly slotted home a penalty after a hand ball in the area and David Joseph Cohen who had a great game, was at the other end of a fantastic diagonal 40-yard pass from Yoav Lebens and finished calmly.

“In the last 10 minutes we really pushed Woodford and had another three or four chances, it was a shame not get the win in the end. However, I was very pleased with our second half performance and the character the boys showed to get back into the game, especially when things were going against us.”

BRIXTON OLD BOYS 4 NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B 4
One of the games of the day saw eight goals shared – and both sides still looking for their first win of the season, as bottom side Brixton earned a point in this thrilling eight-goal thriller.

Four players scored two goals each – Nick Kenton and Saul Conway for Brixton, with Nicky Woolf and Jake Gilbert hitting back for the Raiders.

Raiders manager Jonathan Adelman told jewishnews.co.uk: “Our thoughts are with the Brixton keeper who went off to hospital midway through the first half with a suspected broken arm.”

CAMDEN PARK 8 SPEC 3
Top scorers of the day were Camden who moved up into second spot thanks to this emphatic win over struggling SPEC.

Dan Baneth helped himself to a hat-trick for Camden, with Greg Meller, Richard Silver, Guy Marks, Jake Saunders and David Kanzen also finding the back of the net.

Elliot Wallis, Craig Cohen and an own goal proved scant consolation for the visitors. Player-manager Ricky Lawrence told jewishnews.co.uk: “Whilst we shouldn’t have lost the game 8-3 and gave away some sloppy goals, Camden are a very good side and it’s rare you see that amount of ruthlessness at this level. If they continue playing like that I’d be very surprised if they weren’t in the top two come the end of the season.”

Mill Hill claimed their first win – and points – of the season as two goals from Ben Zloof, along with strikes from Jamie Kent and Jonny Kaye saw them to this win.

Brandon Sassoon scored all three for Jewdinese.

AC WHETSTONE 0 FC TEAM C 3
Team made it two wins from two as goals from Blake Buckman, Matt Davis and Adam Lenz saw them to this comfortable win.

Player-manager David Gordon told jewishnews.co.uk: “This was easily our best performance of the season so far against a very good Whetstone side. We started a little slow but once we went a goal up we didn’t look back. We played more sensibly this week, perhaps giving up a little of our attacking instincts, to be more compact as a team and it resulted in a well-earned clean sheet and three very well taken goals.

“The game was played in very good spirits; Whetstone are a really young side who only wanted to play football and who gave us problems right from the first minute to the last. I hope they do well in the league this season because they play and behave in the right way.”

CATFORD & BROMLEY 3 FC TEAM B 6
Mitch Young’s side continue to fly high at the top of the table as two goals from Andy Sheena helped them make it four wins from four.

Richard Salmon also scored twice, with Daniel Breger and David Grossman also finding the back of the net.

Player-manager Mitch Young told jewishnews.co.uk: “With only 10 players up until Saturday night and only two recognised defenders with the rest attackers, I knew today was all about getting the points on the table. I had to play players out of position and knew it would be high scoring but to be fair everyone coped well and we could have scored 15!

“We bossed the game and were the better team. I was impressed at how Catford rallied and they had a good 15 minute spell in the second half but another good win and we look forward to having a little break from the league next week as we enter the cup.”

Eli Baraty, Yonni Bord and Joel Isaacs replied for the Cats, for whom captain Adam Luria told jewishnews.co.uk: “The game was more even than the score suggests, but we were our own worst enemy. We may as well have just put the ball in our own net for their first four goals, so easily did we give them away.

“That said, at times we played good football despite missing Jeff Gotch, Dan Green and Gary Hill, plus two or three other regulars. We also missed three or four decent chances and on another day it could have finished about 10-9. I think the better team won, but there are plenty of positives for us to take if we can just remember how to defend.”

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C 0 L’EQUIPE 0
There was a rare goalless draw in the MGBSFL as these two sides rather unsurprisingly shared the points – leaving both sides still looking for their first league win of the season.

Norstar manager Zack Gothelf told jewishnewsc.co.uk: “A rarity on a Sunday morning, this game finished 0-0, but the scoreline doesn’t tell the tale of the game. In what proved to be a very open game, L’Equipe had a penalty saved and we hit the bar twice.

“Both sides looked for an early goal, Josh Bloom’s 30-yard free-kick looked destined for the back of the net until the underside of the bar had better ideas. They were then awarded a penalty for a handball, which was superbly saved by Ben Sheldon, diving to his left and getting a strong hand to palm it away.

“We began to get a hold of the game in the second half, bringing wave after wave of attack against their defence. But plenty of missed chances, good defending and saves from L’Equipe’s backline ensured we were disappointed not to take all the three points.”

Faithfold made it two wins from two as they kept up their impressive start to the season.

Eric Holveson scored twice for the Greens, with Ashley Ilson and Dan Gordon also on target.

Faithfold manager Rob Shooman told jewishnews.co.uk: “We were very powerful today, quick into the tackle, quick passing, constant closing down; we really played well. All the players were on their game, from the starting 11 including the three substitutes who all came on , everyone did well. It was a shame for Donetsk that they caught us on an excellent day, they are a young team with potential we were just too much for them today.”

Donetsk manager Elliot Nussbaum told jewishnews.co.uk: “I thought my players fought hard in a game that we were up against a better team. There were a lot of positives to take from the game, especially the fact that we did not give up fighting. This will hold us in good stead for the rest of the season.”

KING CROWN 3 BOCA JEWNIORS 0
King Crown made it three wins from three, though were given a helping hand to their win, as three errors helped see them to the points.

Phil Braham bagged a hat-trick, for a King Crown side who fielded a depleted side, having five top players missing.

Player-manager Jacob Kadoch told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a very good game from the boys. I cant ask for more, three goals and another clean sheet. We take every result with confidence to build and look to improve every game. We will get better.”

Boca manager Gabriel John told jewishnews.co.uk: “Not the start I dreamed of but not awful. King Crown were better than us and I’ll be looking looking for huge improvements over the following weeks.”

KS claimed their first ever MGBSFL win as they saw off the Lions.

James Ryan led the way as he scored a hat-trick, with Sebastian Deal and Zack Gordon also finding the back of the net.

Josh Platt and Phil Peters scored for the visitors.

TEMPLE FORTUNE 2 REAL SOSOBAD 6
The visitors continue to show they’re not as bad as their names suggests as they hit Fortune for six to claim their second win in three games.

Richard Rosenthal and Barry Green scored two each, with Andy Levy and Josh Jacobs also on target.

Manager Daniel Shafron told jewishnews.co.uk: “Today the team were excellent. It was a very solid performance. We played very well, controlled a lot of the possession and were finally relentless in front of goal. The goal scorers took their chances well and I am happy for Barry Green and Josh Jacobs to get off the mark as well as Richard Rosenthal who scored two very well worked goals. I must say that Green’s brace were, for me, very special and we are all delighted for him as they have been a long time coming and very much worth the wait.

“I think their heads dropped soon after we scored our third even though they did pull the game back to 3-2. They caught us out a couple times and took their chances which were more sloppy errors from us than well worked from them. Generally I thought the defenders were really solid with and without the ball and not once did we feel scared or not in control.

“Temple were a team who were there for the taking today and it was a comprehensive victory however we know that upcoming games will not be as easy as this and we have to remain disciplined and focused if we want to be successful.”

Chairman Josh Hambling added: “Today was a great birthday win for the manager who we know refer to as Dan Shafrinho. As each game passes, we are growing stronger and after our opening day slip, the team are bucking their ideas up especially after some firm words from myself and the manager, our work rate, desire and overall quality of football is heading in the right direction. The boys have really taken to Shafrinho’s philosophy and the respect he gets within the club is rightly deserved. I know it’s early days but I might have to renew his contract to stop premiership clubs poaching him. Great to get another win on the board and I am looking forward to a good contest against Rovers next week. I’m sure the boys will be buzzing.”
