Camden continued their fine start to the season by knocking out Premier Division opponents in the cup.
Richard Silver scored twice, with Greg Meller netting their other. Camden joint-manager Max Saunders told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was our best team performance of the season so far. We were immense all over the pitch, with everyone putting a fantastic shift, from defense to attack. We were very organised defensively and, in the second half especially, were completely dominant in all aspects of play and fully deserved the win. The amount of chances we created was also very pleasing to see.
“If I could nominate the whole team for team of the week I would, as everyone deserves a mention. I think today we proved that we are a Premiership team and we will do everything to ensure we are back there next season.”

MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE 3 HARMEN 2
Lions claimed their second league win of the season, as Harmen fell to their second defeat.
Harry Franks, Daniel Green and James Gold were on target for Jamie Kyte’s side.
James Gershfield and Joey Lazare scored for the visitors, for whom manager Joel Alterman told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a disappointing performance today, it took us going down to 10 men to switch on, at which point we were 3-0 down and left ourselves too much work to do. We showed our class in the last 25 minutes by controlling the game with a deficit of personnel. Important lessons were learned throughout today and we are still full of positivity going into next weeks game against Redbridge.”

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A 0 NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS A 1
Rob Richman’s Raiders made it four wins from four as they recorded a hard-fought win in Redbridge thanks to a strike from Josh Green.
Richman told jewishnews.co.uk: “I;m not sure why but every single year when the Redbridge away fixture comes around we seem to be missing half our squad. We turned up today with no Rhodes, Stock, Wolfson, Joselyn, Joseph, Engleman, Espinoza and Mannie. Missing so many players we knew today wasn’t going to be pretty and so it turned out. We battled, fought and competed against a very tough Redbridge side and in the end came away with a very important win.
“It wasn’t the greatest spectacle with neither side forcing either keeper into any saves of note and much the game played in midfield. It might not have been the greatest game but it feels right now a very pleasing and hard earned three points.”
Redbridge player-manager Sam Rosenthal told jewishnews.co.uk: “I’m not sure how we lost that game. We were the better side from start to finish, but credit to them, they got their smash-and-grab.”

ATHLETIC BILBAUM 5 BRIXTON OLD BOYS 0
Bilbaum moved joint-top of the table as they thumped rock-bottom Brixton.
Julius Judah and Vlad Zaiko scored two each, with Adam Bier also on target.
Brixton player-manager Paul Shamplina told jewishnews.co.uk: “We lost 5-0, I don’t know how, I’m still in a state of shock. First half we were in total control, but were unable to finish the half a dozen chances we had, which I told the team would cost us and they would only win the game with lapses in concentration and on the break.
“Fair play to them, they were clinical with some half chances. Too many players lost there own battles and made very poor decisions, costing us goals.
“Next week we play London Lions from Saturday league and my players have to start showing character as places are up for grab, I had to leave three players out of squad.”

BRADY MACCABI 4 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B 2
Redbridge lost their first league game of the season as Brady bounced back from last week’s shock cup exit.
Josh Newman scored twice, with Matt Frohlich and Simon Moses strikes sealing the win.
Daniel Garkinkle and Harry Mednick scored for the visitors, with manager Jon Jacobs telling jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a game of two halves as the cliché goes. We entirely dominated the first half, struck the bar three times and deservedly took the lead with a smart finish from Garfinkle. The lead was doubled with an excellent debut right-footed finish from Harry and the game was there for us to finish off. Their goalkeeper then pulled off a smart finish in a one-on-one with Sollosi, before the game was turned on its head when he saved a Jimmy Castle penalty.
“Brady came out firing in the second half and won a penalty from a defensive error, which they duly converted. The momentum was now with them, they duly equalised with a fine long-range finish which was rather spoiled by the ridiculous celebration of one of their players which sparked unsavoury scenes which the referee struggled to contain. This incident really seemed to affect us, we then conceded a ricocheted finish, and then chasing the game, conceded again in the last few minutes.
“I think you learn more about your team in defeat and this has been a salutary lesson in not killing a game off when they had the chance.”

LOS BLANCOS 0 BLIZZARD STORM 5
Storm moved into joint-third as they turned in a five-star performance.
Mitch Green scored twice, with Ben Ellis, Dean Shaw and Aaron Salaman completing the scoring for Simon Linden’s side.
Player-manager Simon Linden told jewishnews.co.uk: “Our best performance yet and hopefully we will kick on from here. The attitude from my side was spot on and we played some great football, it’s all about building from here and pushing ourselves in this league and the cups. Special mentions to Mitch green who is a great asset and scored two good goals up front, Oli Henry as well who was brilliant in our midfield, however everyone played their part.”

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS B 4 SPEC 2
The Raiders claimed their first league win of the season, thanks in no small part to a second half hat-trick from Jake Gilbert. Nicky Woolf had fired them ahead in just the first minute.
Manager Jonathan Adelman told jewishenws.co.uk: “For much of the game we were wretched but we gritted our teeth, worked hard and a couple of moments of genuine class saw us home. You’d have to watch a hell of a lot of football at all levels to see a goal as good as Jake Gilbert’s first. Making contact with a bicycle kick is one thing, doing it under pressure from defenders, from a flat fizzing cross and popping in the top corner is quite another. It was very special.”
Daniel Pike and Simon Bagel scored for SPEC, for whom player-manager Ricky Lawrence told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a great game and whilst we could argue that neither side deserved to lose the game, Jake Gilbert’s second goal was worthy of winning any game. Genuinely the best goal I’ve seen in Jewish football. Both sides played some really good football and I thought it was a great advert for the MSFL.”

AC WHETSTONE 0 L’EQUIPE 4
L’Equipe claimed their first league win of the season as James Mandell’s double, along with strikes from Andy Smith and Dan Finegold saw them to this comprehensive win.
L’Equipe manager Josh Lewis told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was an all-round great performance from my team today and it’s been coming for a few weeks now.
“From the first minute our new signings Mark and Andy Smith were dominating the Whetstone defence and causing loads of problems up front. Once we broke the deadlock, confidence was high and as we continued to pile on the pressure, another goal came.
“Going in at half-time, the message was not to get complacent as we knew Whetstone had the quality to come back. But straight from the whistle we continued to press the ball and create chances, got a third and with their heads then going down, we weren’t finished just yet and put the game beyond them with a fourth.
“Overall it’s good to finally get the win, four points from first three games and two clean sheets are positives going forward.”

CATFORD & BROMLEY 1 FC TEAM C 4
The visitors moved to within three points of top spot as a hat-trick from Adam Stolerman, along with Matt Davis’ strike saw them to the points.
Team player-manager David Gordon told jewishnews.co.uk: “Following a first half where we were below par, we regrouped at half-time and talked about how we could set things right. We rode our luck at the start of the second half but once we went 2-1 up we were superb and played with confidence, with nearly everything coming off for us.
“With a lot of new players coming in during the summer, everyone is still getting to know one another, yet we have three wins out of three in the league and I couldn’t ask for much more than that as this point. At the same time I still think there is much more to come from this team.”

NORSTAR LONDON RAIDERS C 0 JEWDINESE 2
Jewdinese claimed their first league win of the season thanks to goals from Brandon Sassoon and Jess Alexander.
Raiders player-manager Zack Gothelf told jewishnews.co.uk: “We were well beaten on the day as Jewdinese showed they will be a force to be reckoned with. We were extremely poor and couldn’t bring their game to them, struggling to get a foothold in the game and barely testing the opposition keeper.

OAKWOOD B 0 AC MILL HILL 1
Mill Hill moved up to third as an own goal proved to be the difference though the game ended in controversy with the referee forced to sih out eight yellow and two red cards.
Mill Hill joint-manager Daniel Beresford told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was a well fought battle. After seeing many chances missed, it looking like a scoreless game but we came up with a chance that ended up as an own goal.
“Having then had a penalty given then the referee decided to overule himself and the game then turned into a flurry of cards. The referee had no control on the game which saw at least eight bookings and two sending-offs. The ending was full of controversy where he allowed their players to bully him into giving bad decisions and making his mind up for them. Other than that, I’m though very proud of the way my team battled, but not happy with the discipline of my players. They didn’t have one shot on target and posed no threat to our goal.”
Oakwood manager Jason Stein said: “All this game missed was Ashley Cole lobbing a pizza at Sir Alex Ferguson of Govan. It was more bad tempered than a 73-year-old lady who has been served cold chips in Whitehouse. And while I’m trying to make light of a bad situation, both sides need to take accountability. We’re playing again in three weeks time and I’m afraid I might need a bulletproof Eavesway coach, 14 sets of Dr Dre Beats headphones, an away enclosure and a seat in the stands to make sure the game goes off without incident.
“It’s put me in a shocking mood heading into Shmini Atzeret and you know what those sages say about only having one point at Simchat Torah.
“The referee was perhaps overawed by the ill-feeling between the sides. I know they have one of the hardest jobs going – although surgeons, Mossad agents and pilots don’t exactly have it easy – but maybe a slightly firmer referee will be required next time.
“Some questions have been asked of my conduct in pressuring said ref into overturning his penalty verdict. But if it’s good enough for Arsene Wenger than it’s good enough for me. I apologised to the referee after the game, but I firmly believe the right decision was made.
“As for our performance – we need more cutting edge. Too many chances are being missed. We should have been two or three-nil up by half-time which would have reduced the pressure on our defence who played excellently.
“The Bs have come along way in terms of professionalism, training and commitment. The squad is of a better standard than our results suggest. I remain confident we will get it right.”

DIVISION THREE:
BOCA JEWNIORS 2 HENDON UNITED B 3
Hendon registered their first three points of the season with this hard-fought victory.
Under the cosh early on, they gradually grew into the game and earned a penalty midway through the half when a Boca defender handled. Captain James Neidle stepped up to slot away the penalty, only to be pegged back on the stroke of half-time.
Their bright start to the second half was rewarded when good work down the right saw Benni Sluckis sent clear. He opted to cross rather than shoot, but it was diverted into the net via a Boca defender’s foot. Pressing on in an attempt to kill the game, they missed several guilt- edged chances and paid for it when Boca equalised through a scrappy corner.
But with the game on a knife edge, Hendon were awarded a free-kick 30 yards from goal. Gab Saul, fresh off a wonderful free-kick the previous week, produced another moment of magic, hitting a peach of an effort high into the net.
Hendon manager Adam Glekin told jewishnews.co.uk: “When the free-kick was awarded, I said to Gab I thought it was a bit too far out and we might be better crossing it. He said he felt it was worth a go, so I went with that and said he should have a crack – a wonderful managerial decision if I may say so myself! Seriously though, I don’t think it was our finest performance but I was impressed with the character we showed. We took the lead twice but couldn’t hang onto it, and we there was a danger we could have gone on to lose the game but we showed great bouncebackability. They had periods of dominating the game, but I felt we had the better chances – with some better finishing we could have scored six or seven today”.

FAITHFOLD B 0 REAL SOSOBAD 0
The two sides went into this game level on nine points at the top of the table, so it was therefore no real surprise that they left this side with a point each – though it wasn’t for the lack of chances created.
Sosobad manager Daniel Shafron told jewishnews.co.uk: “As expected, today was a tough test against a strong and powerful side. We knew this was going to be a completely different type of game to our last two and it was a pleasure to see a well contested game of football.
“If I’m honest, I felt my team were the more dominant of the two and Faithfold defended excellently however we let them in a few times through our own sloppy errors and it could have easily cost us. Scott Shear saved us a handful of times with some excellent sweeping and his speed off his line was outstanding. Having said that, we had two or three very good chances but couldn’t convert them today.
“I give full credit to the opposition who played very well and pushed us right to the end and I’m sure they would consider themselves unlucky that they didn’t capitalise on our errors however I think ultimately a point was fair for both teams. With King Crown winning, this has been a good weekend for them so we must get back to winning ways next week and stay on their tail.”

KING CROWN 2 TEMPLE FORTUNE 0
King Crown moved two points clear at the top of the table, as goals from Yoel Deal and Ben Garfield saw them make it four wins from four.
Crown manager Jacob Kadoch told jewishnews.co.uk: “It was our worst performance of the season. We looked physically jaded and mentally not 100 percent. Positives are another clean sheet and we won playing nowhere near the level we are capable of.”

KS REUNITED 3 SHACHARIT DONETSK 4
The away side edged a seven-goal thriller to move three points clear of Donetsk in the table.
Zack Gordon, Joe Sumray and James Ryan scored for the home side, with manager James Lewis telling jewishnews.co.uk: “We cannot believe we lost that game is a seemingly comfortable position at 3-1 we managed to concede three late goals and lose. We will move on and hope that we can learn and bounce back with a win.”

LONDON ROVERS 5 LONDON MACCABI LIONS GREEN 0
Rovers got back to winning ways after their 6-0 defeat last week to rack up an impressive victory of their own.
Joshua Bharier and Dovi Vogel scored two each, with Yossi Abraham also getting on the scoresheet.
Manager Jeremy Brown told jewishnews.co.uk: “This week I asked my players for a response from the disappointment of last week and got it. I thought today was the best we’ve played so far this season and the most pleasing thing is that I felt we still could have played even better which gives us something to work on and improve. I felt we could have won 10-0 and that wouldn’t have flattered us. I don’t think our keeper had a single save to make. We have to make sure we stay consistent and turn up 100% committed to every game if we want to challenge to win this very difficult division.”
Club secretary Vyvyan Emanuel added: “Well I couldn’t have asked for a better response from my players this week! Last week came as a complete shock to us all and it was great to remove such a poor result with a great effort and a well deserved win. Josh Bharier is on fire at moment with another two goals, and Dovi Vogel is back in form.
