A shiva down your spine! Yiddish horror flick The Vigil released soon

Director Keith Thomas' directorial debut revolves around a formerly Orthodox Jewish man asked to watch over the body of a deceased Chasidic resident - but things quickly go awry

Resting in peace is not quite what one deceased Holocaust survivor has in mind in a gripping horror film released later this month.

The Vigil revolves around a formerly Orthodox Jewish man, who is recruited to stand guard over the body of a Chasidic resident from Brooklyn’s Borough Park neighbourhood – but not all goes as it should and a terrifying night ensues.

Produced by Blumhouse, The Vigil marks Keith Thomas’ directorial feature debut, while the dialogue is predominantly in spoken Yiddish.

The cast features Unorthodox actress Malky Goldman and Menashe Lustig, who starred in the semi-autobiographical feature film, Menashe.

The Vigil (15) is out in cinemas from 31 July
