Academic snubs 13-year old Israeli’s letter about horses over ‘justice for Palestinians’

A British-American academic who supports boycotts of Israel has refused to answer questions about horses from a 13-year old Israeli student until “there is peace and justice for Palestinians”.

The student, identified as Shachar Rabinovitch, messaged Dr Marsha Levine, a former Cambridge lecturer who has since become a photographer, because she had heard Levine was an expert on the history of horses.

In response, Levine wrote: “I’ll answer your questions when there is peace and justice for Palestinians in Palestine.”

She added: “I am a member of Jews for Justice for Palestinians. I support Boycott, Divestment [and] Sanctions. You might be a child, but if you are old enough to write to me, you are old enough to learn about Israeli history.

Online anger saw activists from North West Friends of Israel call Levine’s response “child abuse”.

However, Levine defended her decision as “fair,” saying: “Jews have turned themselves into monsters” in their treatment of Palestinians.

Fair Play Campaign commented: “We have always said that boycotts of Israel lead to racist discrimination against Israelis. This incident is yet more proof that we were right. Harassing a schoolgirl just because she’s Israeli is both nasty and pointless, but it is exactly the kind of behaviour we’ve come to expect from the morally-bankrupt BDS campaign.”
