Adam swims to Brighton Marina win

Open water swimmer Adam Warner took part in his first ever Brighton Marina swim on Sunday – and duly took gold, competing in the 2,000m race.

Sticking to a game plan, he broke away from the field early on, opening up an early gap between himself and second place as he produced a strong first lap. Lapping some of the swimmers in the second lap, even doing so in slightly choppy water which made the feat even harder, the final part of the race saw him pick up momentum up once again, which saw him mange a sprint finish towards the finishing boat.

He said: “I ended up winning the race quite comfortably, but was very pleased, that I wasn’t too tired, as I had only trained for one week, after having a three-week break from any type of exercise.  “This race has given me great confidence for the beginning of my season and my new journey I am about to begin within Masters.”

Adam next competes at the 10K at Dorney Lake (Eton) in two weeks.
