Amazon comedy Transparent picks up Bafta

Series featuring Jewish family dealing with transgender issues scoops International Award

American comedy series Transparent, which features a Jewish family dealing with transgender issues, scooped the International Award at this year’s Bafta’s.

The Amazon show, now in its second series and created by Jewish writer and director Jill Soloway, beat off stiff competition from The Good Wife, Narcos and Spinal.

Last night’s Bafta adds an already impressive haul of awards for the series, which recently won two Emmys and a Screen Actors Guild award for lead Jeffrey Tambor.

Transparent revolves around the lives of the Pfefferman family and their differing approach to father Morton (Tambor), who is leading a new life as Maura.

Reality star Caitlyn Jenner was recently announced as a new cast member for the show’s third season.
