Amy Winehouse’s stilettos up for auction in aid of NHS
The designer pair previously worn by the Back to Black singer will go under the hammer later this month for charity
A pair of stilettos from Amy Winehouse’s own collection may be the highlight of an online auction in aid of the National Health Service and hunger relief during the coronavirus pandemic.
The size 38 maroon-coloured heels previously worn by the singer, from top shoe designer Jonathan Kelsey’s 2008 autumn winter collection, were donated by the Amy Winehouse Foundation to raise funds for NHS Charities Together and Feeding America in the US.
Other lots up for grabs in the One Love Covid-19 Relief Auction include framed handwritten lyrics by the singer-songwriter Annie Lennox for the 1983 hit “Sweet Dreams” and a banjo lesson with the Mumford & Sons lead guitarist Winston Marshall.
Winehouse, who shot to international stardom in 2006 with her album Back to Black, died in 2011 at the age of 27 from accidental alcohol poisoning.
The singing sensation was honoured in her old stomping ground earlier this year with her name on Camden’s Music Walk of Fame.
The auction, now open for pre-bidding, will be hosted live by Broadway performer Billy Porter from 6pm on 21 May and available to watch through Omega Auctions and the Island Records YouTube channel.
