Grant during his reign as Chelsea manager

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant has been linked with the vacant manager’s role of the Ivory Coast national side.

The Israeli met with the chairman of Ivory Coast FA following the Elephant’s World Cup exit last Thursday.

Sidy Diallo confirmed holding a meeting with the 59-year-old at a hotel in Fortaleza, with Grant having previously been linked with the team, although no meetings were held.

Diallo has said the FA are in urgent need of appointing a new manger ahead of the start of their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which begin in two months’ time.

Grant had earlier met up with his former Salomon Kalou, the Ivory Coast midfielder who was also his player when Grant was in charge of the Blues between 2007-2008.
