Baby Bladerunner is reunited with Prince Harry at Invictus Games

Seven-year-old Rio Woolf has been reunited with Prince Harry at this year’s Invictus Games in Orlando.

Dubbed ‘baby bladerunner’, Rio was born with tibial aplasia, which resulted in him having his right leg amputated through the knee.

Having first met the Prince at the inaugural London Invictus Games in September 2014, the pair met up again in Florida, ahead of the start of this year’s Games.

Rio said: “It was amazing to meet Prince Harry again! I wasn’t nervous because I’ve met him before but I was very excited! He was really nice and asked me about my special leg – I loved having a hug with him!”

Rio’s mum Juliette said: “It was a dream come true for Rio to be reunited with Prince Harry.

“It’s also a fantastic opportunity for Rio to meet other differently-abled athletes and to be encouraged by seeing all these amazing amputees achieving their goals and it empowers him to pursue his own Paralympic dreams!

“We are completely overwhelmed by all the incredible support Rio has received not only from his Invictus heroes but from friends, family and people around the world who have sent such wonderful messages of encouragement for our special son – it’s amazing how his “Harry Hug” has gone viral! It’s totally surreal and we’re having the time of our lives!”
