Badenoch: Message of Pesach feels especially urgent this year

Kemi Badenoch has said the message of Pesach “feels especially urgent” this year at a time when Jewish people are again confronting the scourge of antisemitism.

In her Passover message, the Conservative leader wrote: ”Pesach tells the enduring story of liberation – of a people who left oppression in Egypt to find freedom, dignity, and a homeland.

“It is a story that has shaped Jewish identity for generations, and one that continues to resonate and inspire Jews and many non-Jews alike.”

But she noted: ”At a time when that homeland is under attack, and when Jewish people here in Britain are once again confronting the scourge of antisemitism, the message of Pesach feels especially urgent.

“Pesach is not only a reflection on the past. It is a call to responsibility in the present. Antisemitism is on the rise in Britain, and we must do everything we can to fight it.”

She also wished Jewish people in Britain and around the world a peaceful and meaningful Pesach.
