Zilberman wins Israel’s first Olympic badminton match
Victory not enough to see him qualify from group stage.
Misha Zilberman became the first Israeli to win a badminton Olympic match when he beat Yuhan Tan on Saturday night.
In what was his second Group Play Stage Group C match, his straight sets win over the Belgian – 22-20 and 22-12, followed an opening match defeat against Chinese Tapai’s Chen Tien Chou, 21-9 and 21-11.after he beat Yuhan Tan.
However, he was knocked out of the event after Chen Tien Chou defeated Tan 2-0 (21-14, 21-8) to secure first place in the group on Sunday.
