Badminton squads named for European Games

Team Maccabi GB Open athlete and Junior Manager, Aimee Shulton

The four badminton players who will be representing Team Maccabi GB at this summer’s European Maccabi Games in Berlin have been announced.

The junior squad will make up the majority of GB’s badminton representatives in Germany, with manager and former Maccabiah athlete, Aimee Shulton, combining her role with competing in the open competition. Team MGB has a proud history of winning badminton medals at the EMG’s, with the squads returning home with six awards including three golds, one gold plate, a silver and silver plate in Vienna in 2011.

Speaking about her team and the expectations for Berlin, Shulton said: “We have a small team this year but the players are showing a lot of potential. With a lot of hard work and dedication they will be able to improve and eventually reach their full ability. Who knows, we could even see some Team MGB names on the medals table! My aims for the European Maccabi Games are for the players to experience an international standard of competition so that it gives them motivation to keep training and improving for years to come, hopefully with the goal of competing at a Maccabiah Games like I did. My personal goal would be for me to come away with a medal in the Open category. I am also really excited for everyone to experience the history of Berlin during the Pre-camp and throughout the EMG with the rest of the Delegation.”
