Baroness Black of Crossharbour — more familiar as the journalist Barbara Amiel — has written a coruscating memoir, Friends and Enemies, which she is to discuss with communications guru Zaki Cooper on February 1, as part of Jewish Book Week.

In association with Jewish News, the online event is bound to attract a big audience, as Ms Amiel, a youthful 80, reflects on her early years in London before her success in Canada as editor of the Toronto Sun. Names dropped in her book include Henry Kissinger, Anna Wintour, Princess Diana, Tom Stoppard and Ghislaine Maxwell, while also on stage are the stately homes of England and the American prison where her husband Conrad Black served time.
