Basketball star Danny Green apologises for ‘lol Holocaust’ post
By Jack Mendel
An American basketball star has issued an apology after posting a sickening caption above a picture of him at Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial.
The image, which has since been deleted, was published on his Facebook page.
Green, who was in the German capital to play an exhibition match with his team San Antonio Spurs, wrote: ‘You know I had to do it one time lol #holocaust’.
After a tide of criticism, attacking the sportsman for being thoughtless and insensitive, Green changed the caption on the photo to the following text: “A lot of history here, more than you could imagine…very sad/tragic things happened #holocaust #berlin”.
Green later expressed his regret through Twitter:
Yes, mistakes do happen
