Beersheva earn goalless draw in Greece

Israeli champions play out stalemate against Olympiakos in Champions League qualifier.

Hapoel Beersheva played out a 0-0 draw in Athens

Hapoel Beersheva grounded out a goalless draw in Greece on Wednesday night as they drew the first leg of their Champions League third round qualifier 0-0.

A game of few chances saw former Chelsea striker Ben Sahar force a late save from the home side’s goalkeeper Stefanos Kapino, meaning any kind of win for the Israelis next Wednesday night will see them through to a play-off tie. However, last night stalemate means any score draw for the Greeks will see Beersheva knocked out and drop down to the Europa League competition.
