A beloved Kosher deli in Baker Street has revealed that it is closing down after 46 years due to a family bereavement.

Reubens, which opened on Baker Street in 1973, made the announcement in an emotional Facebook post today.

“With a heavy heart, unexpectedly we have had to close due to a family bereavement. We are proud that of the 46 years Reubens has served the community,” the post read.

“Our family have proudly run the business for over 37 years. We wish all our customers and friends the best wishes.

“Thank you for your custom and good memories we have all shared! Love from all the Reuben family.”

Simon Johnson, CEO of the Jewish Leadership Council, said: “That is very sad news.

“An institution passes and a place that I often would go to. It seemed always to be busy.”
