Billboard to greet Eurovision visitors to counter anti-occupation banner

StandWithUs, which offer educational tours of the country, responded to a billboard purchased by an Israeli anti-occupation group

A large billboard promoting educational tours of Israel will soon greet visitors travelling from Ben Gurion Airport to counter an anti-occupation banner.

It will come after the Israeli anti-occupation group Breaking the Silence put up a banner on Tuesday aimed at Eurovision tourists promoting tours of the West Bank.

Eliciting a mixed response, the billboard depicts Tel Aviv beach pitted against the West Bank barrier and carries the words “Dare to dream of freedom.”

It also promotes tours of Hebron, which it claims show “the full picture.”

In response, the nonprofit StandWithUs, which offer tours of Jaffa, Haifa, Nazareth and other locations, purchased advertising space on the Ayalon Freeway.

The billboard, which will be put up on Wednesday for a week, will read: “Dare to Dream of Peace, Security and Coexistence – Join our Tours.”

It will depict Tel Aviv beach as well as doves, children and photo of a young Jewish Israeli and Palestinian linking arms, representing hopes of peace.
