Jewish representatives have passed on their best wishes to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex upon the announcement that they are expecting their first child.

“B’sha’a tova u’mutzlachat!” said the Board of Deputies in a tweet, as news filtered through on Monday that Prince Harry, 34, and Meghan, 37, were expecting. “We wish all the Royal Family health and happiness.”

A Kensington Palace spokesman said the couple, who arrived in Australia for a 16-day tour on Monday, were expecting their first child in the spring. Their first-born will be seventh in-line to the throne.

The couple got married in Windsor five months ago and the news was announced shortly after another Royal wedding, that of Princess Eugenie this weekend.

The British Embassy in Tel Aviv also registered its best wishes.
