Boris Johnson offers ‘deepest sympathies’ to Rabbi Lord Sacks’ family at PMQs

Boris Johnson has paid tribute to Lord Jonathan Sacks during Wednesday’s Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons after the esteemed former chief rabbi died on Saturday.

The prime minister said: “I know the whole House will want to join me in sending our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks who sadly passed away on Saturday.

“His leadership had a profound effect on our whole country and across the world. May his memory be a blessing.”

The prime minister was the latest religious, royal and political leader to pay tribute to Sacks, with one of Johnson’s Number 10 predecessors – Tony Blair – likewise doing so in this week’s Jewish News.
