Superstar musician Boy George has condemned the silence of fellow artists in the face of antisemitic outbursts from Kanye West.

The Culture Club singer, who performed at this year’s Jewish Care charity dinner, also highlighted in an emotional Instagram post the failure of the rapper’s ex Kim Kardashian to speak out.

“I’m listening with great sadness to the antisemitic comments coming out of Kanye West’s mouth. I’m kind of appalled that not more artists have come out spoke against what he’s saying.

“I’m appalled that Kim Kardashian hasn’t really added her voice to this debate because this woman has children with Kanye. So she can understand better than anyone as a mother what it must feel like for little Jewish children to hear these f***ing comments. How demoralising and terrifying it must be.”

In a post in which he tagged Jewish News, he the artist added: “As a gay man, I have experienced years of prejudice so the idea of doing that to someone else based on their race or their colour or their sexuality or gender is just f****ing appalling to me – and should be appalling to you.”

Earlier this month, West was blocked by social media platforms after writing he was going “death con 3 on Jewish people” before later suggesting “Jewish people have owned the black voice”.

Boy George is the first major British showbusiness figure to condemn West and follows on from criticism from the likes of David Schwimmer and Amy Schumer in the US.

Addidas has come under increasing pressure over the weekend to end its relationship with the rapper.
