From London to Laniado: Cycling to raise £30,000 for hospital in Netanya

The director of Specsavers in Romford has proved love is not blind, by setting off on a four-week charity bike ride to Israel on his 30th wedding anniversary.

Kevan Green, who has also been at the eye-care chain for three decades, embarked on the 2,800km route on Wednesday to raise £30,000 (more than £12,000 has been donated) for Laniado Hospital in Netanya.

He is also supporting Myeloma UK, which helps those suffering from cancer of the plasma cells.

He explained his reasons for fundraising: “I met a lady on Netanya beach with a lovely toddler, who has haemophilia,” he said. “I heard of the amazing care the child was receiving.”
