British Jews’ impact on TV and cinema to be celebrated next month

A series of taster events, screenings, tours, discussions and lectures will mark Jewish History Month during March

A month long celebration of Jewish contribution to British film and cinema will take place in March, with almost 25 events being held right across the country.

The Jewish Historical Society of England (JHSE) will explore the Jewish impact on the big and small screen with a series of screenings, tours, discussions and lectures.

In total, 24 events have been planned for Jewish History Month – with a theme of ‘Big Screen Little Screen, Jews in British Cinema and Television’.

Activities include a visit to the renowned Ealing Studios, a bus tour of East London’s cinema heritage, with events being held from Liverpool and Leeds in the North to Brighton in the South.

Prof. Nathan Abrams said: “A month long celebration of Jewish history is long overdue. With events across the country, there really is something for everyone and all are welcome.

“Participants can visit a film studio or take a bus tour and see the sites where Jews made an impact on British cinema and television. Tickets are selling out fast, so I would strongly recommend checking out the website”
