Fresh from the Anagram Trophy semi-final win at the weekend, Lions were not able to hit the same heights, but were ultimately undone by a disputed winner against Buntingford Town.

The visitors, who beat Lions earlier in the month in the reverse fixture, made the better of a quiet start to the game when Lions goalkeeper Reuben Rabstein forced into making a super save when left one-on-one after a poor clearance from the Lions defence. Buntingford were not to be denied however and broke the deadlock when a ball over the top was slotted in by the visitors’ striker.

Lions were stunned into action and equalised when Charlie Kasler, Max Kyte and Austin Lipman combined for the latter to finish into the top right hand corner of the net.

However, Lions conceded what turned out to be the winner midway through the second half when a break down the right saw the ball centred and Rabstein couldn’t quite keep out the shot. Lions felt the goal was offside but to no avail.

Lions were unable to create the opportunity that would salvage the result, and were left disappointed with the defeat.
