Josh Burnham endured a “frustrating” second professional fight on Saturday night, though still had more than enough for his Bulgarian opponent, as he won on points at York Hall.

The 23-year-old was taking on Konstantin Alexandrov – a last minute replacement, of whom he said: “He was very frustrating to fight and was just trying to survive, but I was pleased in that I managed to get the job done and did what I was told!”

Taking part in his first six-round contest, he said: “I felt good. It was the first time I’d done six rounds and I could have gone another six after!  But I felt comfortable over the six rounds, I live well and train hard so I was ready!”

Admitting he would have liked to finished the fight earlier, he said: “Yes, I would liked to have done, but at the same time I didn’t want to rush in and get caught with a silly punch and potentially get a cut. As I said, it was frustrating but good to get the rounds in.”

Hoping to get in one more fight this year, with November being earmarked, he’s also more confident than ever that he can make his name as a pro. “As time goes on I get more and more confident , with the people around me and the way I’m settling [into the sport] much more now!”
