Cabinet Minister attends British terror victim’s shiva

Cabinet Minister Francis Maude attended the shiva of Avraham Goldberg’s, one week after the British-born rabbi was among five people murdered by Palestinian terrorists in a Jerusalem synagogue.

Rabbi Goldberg was initially from Liverpool, and lived in Golders Green before moving to Israel.

Maude, who is MP for Horsham, said: “I paid my respects and wished long life to the family of Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldber. I then visited the Har Nof synagogue where the tragic murders took place. It was especially horrific that such brutal and appalling acts happened in a holy place of worship and learning.”

The Cabinet Minister is in Israel and the Palestinian Authority to progress the Anglo-Israel relationship on cyber matters and to discuss civil service reform.

He was joined by the newly selected candidate for Hertsmere and senior advisor to Prime Minister David Cameron, Oliver Dowden, who is currently in Israel on a Conservative Friends of Israel delegation.
