Cameron cancels Israel visit over UK floods

David Cameron has cancelled his scheduled visit to Israel next week to respond to the ongoing flooding crisis.

The prime minister announced the move during a press conference as fourteen flood warnings remain in place in Berkshire and Surrey. Around 1,000 homes along the Thames have been evacuated.

Cameron – who had been due to hold talks with Benjamin Netanyahu and Mahmoud Abbas during the two-day trip – said he had apologised to both leaders for the cancellation.

He told reporters: “Nothing is more important than dealing with these floods.”
