A campaign has been launched calling on Theresa May’s Government to stop Hamas rearming as a prelude to war.

The Israel-Britain Alliance, led by a former parliamentarian Michael McCann, listed recent terrorist attacks against Jewish Israelis in Tel Aviv and the West Bank, saying: “Too often this is a prequel to a Hamas declaration of war on Israel.”

The campaign group, which falls under the Zionist Federation umbrella, said: “Sadly, we know the routine. Hamas attack from highly-populated civilian areas, Israel defends its people, innocents die, the press misreports events, the international community brokers a cease fire, Hamas play the victim and retire to regroup…until the next time.”

In June, the Middle East Peace Quartet reported that the “illicit arms build-up in Gaza by Hamas and other Palestinian groups is continuing, including the building of tunnels, the smuggling of weapons, and the production and launching of rockets towards Israel”.
