CCJ interfaith meeting hears from three top speakers

Rabbi H. Gluck spoke at North London CCJ’s AGM

The annual general meeting of the Council of Christians & Jews (CCJ) North London Branch was honoured to welcome three speakers last week, including a rabbi, a Christian supporter of Israel and a mother-of-four from Hackney.

The meeting, which took place at AJEX House in Stamford Hill on Thursday, saw Ivor Millman re-elected chairman and heard from speakers Rabbi H. Gluck, Jacob Vince and Cllr. Sade Etti, Deputy Speaker of Hackney.

Gluck is a noted interfaith activist who is chairman of the Arab-Jewish Forum and chairman and founder of the Muslim-Jewish Forum. He spoke about the life of his father and about his own work, which has included mediation in warzones and for which he was awarded an OBE last year.

Jacob Vince, the chief executive of Christian Friends of Israel, spoke about the theological basis for Christian support for Israel and the historical position of Palestine, while Cllr. Sade Etti spoke about her role as Deputy Speaker.

“It was a very good evening,” said Millman. “The letters ‘AGM’ usually put people off coming but the speakers were very interesting indeed.”
