Horrific moment two Charedi men are beaten and kicked to the ground in Stamford Hill

This was the horrific moment two strictly-Orthodox men were brutally assaulted and knocked to the floor, apparently by a passer-by, on Wednesday night.

CCTV footage of the incident on Wednesday night showed the men emerging from a building into the path of the suspect walking down the pavement towards them.

Both men turn as the suspect, a tall man dressed in black, walks around them — moments before he lands the first of multiple punches.

One of the victims was left with a fractured wrist and nose, while the other has an eye injury and was badly bruised.

Both were admitted to a north London hospital.

Police said the incident was being treated as a hate crime.

A teenager has been arrested and remains in custody.

In the footage of the assault, which lasts 23 seconds, the attacker is seen pausing for a moment as one of his victims appears to plead with him.

But he then resumes his brutal punches, knocking both men to the floor and dragging both along the pavement.

As the struggle ensures a kippah belonging to one of the victims is seen falling to the ground. The suspect kicks it as he walks calmly away from the scene.

The Shromim security service said the incident occurred on Cadoxton Avenue, a street near Stamford Hill, as the two victims were locking up their shop.

Police said in a statement: “We were called on Wednesday 26 January at approximately 21:50hrs to reports of two men being assaulted in Cadoxton Avenue, Haringey.

“Officers attended and searched the local area for the suspect, before arresting an 18-year-old man in nearby Fairview Road on suspicion of actual bodily harm. He was taken into custody, where he currently remains.

“The two men who were assaulted were taken to a north London hospital.

“Officers will continue to liaise with the victims and members of the community. This is being treated as a hate crime at this time.”

Wednesday night’s incident comes three months after a suspect was detained in connection to a separate spate of attacks on Jewish people in the Stamford Hill area.
