Over 3,500 people descended upon the London Great Challah Make Event at Allianz Park, held on 23rd October 2014 the event can be deemed a huge success.

The event was open to all, and embraced by Jews of all levels of observance, denominations, ages, affiliations and ideologies; who came together to make challahs for Shabbat, and make history at the same time.

The unique event, sparked by The Shabbat Project held in South Africa last year, was the first of its kind in the UK.

It served as symbol of not just Jewish unity in the UK, but with Jews in more than 212 cities, 33 countries across the globe participating, it ensures that that the Anglo Jewry will too be ‘Keeping it Together.’

With two great raffle prizes up for grabs on the night, and fantastic speeches by the events organisers Joanne Dove and Dalia Cramer, as well as Chief Rabbi Mirvis and Rebbetzen Mizrachi, it was not merely a challah making session.

Challahs were not only made by people to take home but were also prepared for various synagogues and charity organisations across the UK.

Dalia Cramer was proud to say that ‘I’ve seen the best side of Jews…from all walks of life, all sections of our community, from all different organisations work together, play together, pray together and now bake together.’ As new friendships were formed, laughter and songs filled the room and with a waiting list of  775 people, the event was truly spectacular.
