Change of formation sees Redbridge claim three points

Redbridge claimed a much-needed win in their battle to avoid relegation as they claimed what could prove to be a vital three points.

On a brisk morning at Fairlop, a very well drilled RJC B, showed the potential they can play at. Handing a debut to the very talented goalkeeper Scott Shear, a new formation designed by RJC B managers Sam Rank and Richie Caplin was played by RJC B, which was worked on at the training and the formation worked perfectly.

The game started with RJC B dominating the play, with the Chernoff brothers being effective on the wings, with Adam Noble sitting in front of the centre-backs and dictating the play. With Noble sitting in front of the centre, this gave the freedom to the centre-midfield trio of Daniel Bean, Carl Dobrin and Brad Gayer to bomb forward.

RJC B eventually took the lead after half-hour mark, when good work on the right hand side by Sam Moss who played the ball to the ever present Gayer, who beat the FC Team B defender and finished emphatically with his weaker right foot at the near post. The game continued with RJC B controlling the game as they took their 1-0 lead into the break.

The second half saw RJC B miss a hat-full of chances through Sam Moss and Carl Dobrin and they were made to pay with 10 minutes remaining as they conceded the equaliser. A long punt from the goalkeeper into the RJC B half was left to bounce, and a lack of communication between the two centre-backs Dan Alderman and Dan Andrews, let in Richard Salmon one-on-one and he beat Shear clinically.

This prompted a big reaction from the RJC B boys. Awarded an 86th minute free-kick, a delicious cross from the outstanding Brad Gayer was met by Carl Dobrin, who placed a controlled header over the goalkeeper.

They then pushed on in the final stages and closed the game out with a third goal, when the tireless Daniel Bean won the ball, played in Gayer, who very unselfishly passed to super substitute David Fialka to finish the game off.

Joint-manager Sam Rank said: “It was a fantastic performance today from the boys. All 1-14 were outstanding. The squad have brought into the style of play and new formation this week and did not disappoint. Special mentions to Adam Noble and Brad Gayer who simply just class today.

“We move onto next week big derby game against Real Sosobad, were I am expecting fireworks and another big performance from the lads.”
