Charity launches new weekend programme for young families

Volunteers at social action organisation GIFT invited to pack food parcels for community members in need

A social action charity has launched a weekend programme for young families.

GIFT’s new bi-monthly initiative, ‘Thank Gift It’s Sunday’ (TGIS) encourages families to pack food parcels and assemble teddy bears for children in the care system. Sessions will also include arts and crafts with the elderly and making sandwiches for the homeless.

Keren Heller, GIFT’s volunteer co-ordinator, said: “It was amazing to see families come together and do good during their spare time on a Sunday. The atmosphere was very special. Children were excited to donate teddy bears they made themselves, to less fortunate children.”

Parent volunteer Gideon came with his daughter and niece. He said: “It was the perfect way to spend an hour on a Sunday; doing something meaningful for a special charity whilst simultaneously having quality father/uncle time with the girls.”
