Chelsea fans chant anti-Semitic abuse at Jewish train passenger

An Orthodox Jewish train passenger was the victim of sickening anti-Semitic abuse by a group of Chelsea supporters following an FA Cup match at the end of January.

British Transport Police said the man was forced to switch carriages after being singled out by the fans, on a train from Milton Keynes to Euston.

Releasing an image of a man they believe may have knowledge of the incident as part of a wider appeal for information, Detective Constable David Peek said: “The incident happened on Sunday, January 31, the day Chelsea played at MK Dons in the FA Cup. Following the match, a group of Chelsea fans boarded a Euston bound service at Milton Keynes at 7.50pm.

“The carriage was crowded and they began using foul language. One of them singled out an Orthodox Jewish man and all of the men began chanting anti-Semitic abuse at him.”

“The victim moved carriage as a result of this disgraceful behaviour.

“Nobody should have to put up with abuse just because of their race or religion, and we take all reports of hate crime extremely seriously.

“I think the man in the image I am issuing today will have information about the incident. Please tell us who he is?”
