Chelsea legend Didier Drogba: ‘Israel is a big part of world history’

Football star was speaking on visit to the Jewish state as part of trip with the Ivory Coast embassy

Former Chelsea football club star has said how Israel is a “big part of world history”, while on a visit to the country as part of a trip organised by the Israeli and Ivory Coast embassies.

Speaking to reporters on landing in the country, the 39-year-old won four Premier Leagues, four FA Cups and the Champions League during his nine-year-stay in west London, while also appeared in three World Cups.

Due to spend five days in Israel, he said how Israel is “a big part of world history”, and how he intends to see the sights in the Middle East.

He also spoke about playing under Israeli manager Avram Grant, as well as about his current plans, which sees him playing in US’ Major League Soccer.
