Chief Rabbi unveils new state-of-the-art building at Simon Marks school
Ephraim Mirvis praises the 'excellent' school that 'truly draws out the potential of every child' as he unveils a plaque to open its new building
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis has opened a new state-of-the-art building for nursery and reception children at Simon Marks Jewish Primary School.
Named after one of the school’s most devoted supporters who died in 2013, Rabbi Mirvis unveiled a plaque at the William Sharron Early Years Building in Stoke Newington.
Praising the school as being “excellent”, he then fixed a mezuza on a door of the building, before viewing its outdoor space and facilities. He said the is one that “truly draws out the potential of every child”.
Following his visit on Wednesday, Chair of Governors Howard Pallis said: “The opening of this new facility is a huge step forward for Simon Marks. Following Ofsted’s recent rating of Simon Marks as a good school, and the appointment of our excellent head Gulcan Metin, we’re going from strength to strength. Billy Sharron would be thrilled to see what’s happening at a school”.
