Clore Shalom claim Watford schools win

Clore Shalom’s winning team

Clore Shalom’s Year 5/6 football team won the Watford Schools Partnership Football Tournament.

Managed and coached by both school PE teacher Niv Dovrat, and parent and London Maccabi Lions Manager Nigel Burns, they beat 10 other local schools to claim the trophy.

Finishing second in their group of six – Jason Burns (Year 5) scored in the 1-0 semi final win over Saffron Green, helped with a wonderful save from goalkeeper Harry Bernstein for good measure. The final saw Jason Burns score a scorcher directly from a free-kick in extra-time, before an own goal sealed a 2-0 win over Monksmead – and the trophy.

Burns said: “It was an amazing achievement and thoroughly deserved for all their hard work and effort, especially in the semi-final and final itself – and for some boys it was the second year in a row having won the Year 4/5 tournament last year!”

Squad: Harry Bernstein, Ethan Schechter, Uri First, Jordan Copans, Ben Woolstone, Jamie Berger, Daniel Levitan, Daniel Mincer (all year 6), Jason Burns (year 5).
