Comic Relief has appointed as its new board chair Eric Salama, the former chief executive officer of the market data business Kantar.

The 59 year-old businessman will assume his new role on 1 July, taking over from BBC Studios chief executive Tim Davie, who served on the board for more than six years.

“Comic Relief has achieved so much over the past 30 years and has the potential to achieve even more over the next 30.  Its creative heart is unique and its services are needed more than ever right now.  I look forward to helping the charity grow to even greater success.
