Concerts to be held in memory of ‘kind-hearted’ 20-year old

Fundraising concerts are to be held in London in November in memory of Liora Rosenberg, the 20-year woman from Hendon who tragically died earlier this year.

The ‘Music for Liora’ event will celebrate the former JFS student’s life and raise money for Hatzola North-West, with a dozen singers performing at Jazz After Dark, where Amy Winehouse launched her career.

Liora, a teaching assistant, was admitted to Royal London Hospital with a bleed to the brain. She contracted pneumonia and, after a week on life support, with her parents by her bed, she was confirmed as clinically dead at the end of April.

Her plight galvanised London’s Jewish community, with £20,000 pledged for Hatzola at the time of her death. The figure now stands at £40,000 and concert organisers are hoping to help the family hit six figures.

“Liora was very kind-hearted and always looking to help people,” they said. “Continuing in her legacy, let’s all come together to help make her last wish come true and together donate the money needed to raise £100,000 for an ambulance.”

Held over 2 and 3 November, there will be six singers per night, including opera singer Marika Rauscher and Jewish reggae singer David Sudwarts. Each will perform on-stage for 30 minutes, including at least one Amy Winehouse song.
