Coroners in Barnet are investigating the death of a young man from Mill Hill, who was found dead in his flat on Thursday.

Michael Young, a former Mathilda Marks pupil, was 29-years old and suffered from a rare hereditary condition called Cowden’s Syndrome, which meant that he had great difficulty walking.

Family members, who did not want to be identified, said: “Michael was very well-loved, very kind, a staunch supporter of Israel, he was always gathering people around.”

His sister took to Facebook on Thursday, saying: “Today was one of the worst days of my life. Having to say goodbye to my Michael was one of the hardest things I had to do.”

An Australian blogger, who documents the nature of Cowden’s Syndrome and who knew Michael, wrote: “Rest in peace. Your resilience, strength and your cheeky sense of humour will not be forgotten.”

A post-mortem was conducted to determine the cause of death, ahead of the burial at Edgwarebury Lane Cemetery, where hundreds attended, many of whom brought Israeli flags.

Barnet Coroner’s Court has reportedly told the family that the investigation will take up to eight weeks to establish the cause of death.
