Dads gearing up for ‘Menorah Marathon’

Charity race will see six local men mark Chanukah with a difference this year

David Blitz and Matt Martin are two of the six dads who are taking part in next month's 'Menorah Marathon'

Six dads will be marking Chanukah with a difference this year when they run a special half marathon for charity which will take them around six public menorahs in Essex.

Taking on the Essex Menorah Half Marathon, David Blitz, Matt Martin, Danny Fresco, Dan Lion, Daniel Carmel Brown and Darren Brown created a route around Epping, Loughton, Buckhurst Hill, Chigwell, Gants Hill and Barkingside, which will take them past the six menorahs in their area, culminating at the Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School Winter Fete.

Raising money running for WIJPS, Kantor King Solomon High School and Clore Tikva, the event on 17 December is being sponsored by local business Land Commercial Surveyors.

Blitz said: “We decided to combine our passion for running with our passion for local Jewish education. All funds raised will be donated to the school, so we’d encourage people to dig deep and join us for the whole run, some of it, or even just the last leg.
