David Baddiel and Charedi campaigner to take part in JW3 clash of ideologies

Jewish News debate with JW3 is organised following the pair’s clash on social media in January.

Writer, broadcaster and self-declared athiest David Baddiel will take part in a Jewish News debate with Charedi campainger Yehudis Fletcher at JW3 next Wednesday.

The online event, entitled Reconcilable Differences?, was organised following the pair’s clash on social media in January.

Baddiel tweeted an article about illegal weddings in Stamford Hill Charedi communities, with the comment ‘F*****g Frummers’ (without the asterisk), and Fletcher gave a robust response to his words, which many saw as offensive.

Fletcher is founder of Nahamu, which fights for “the right of every Jewish person to live a life that is guided by their religion, without sacrificing their personal autonomy or welfare”.

Raymond Simonson, JW3 chief executive, said the event was part of its mission to “increase the quality, variety and volume of Jewish conversation”.
