Davidovich closes in on women’s windsurfing final

Second-place finish in first race of day sees 28-year-old edge closer to medal race.

Maayan Davidovich moved closer to securing a place in the medal race

Maayan Davidovich moved a step closer to securing her place in the final medal race of the RS:X Women’s competition on Thursday evening.

Going into the third day of action, races 7, 8 and 9, she started the day sitting overall in fifth place, and produced her best performance to date, finishing the first race in second place. However, the next two races saw her finish disappointingly in 15th and 14th place respectively, meaning she now sits overall in sixth place.

With three races to go, the top ten surfers will qualify for the medal race.

Things aren’t looking so positive for Shahar Zabari in the RS:X Men competition.

Going into the races sitting in 20th place, he clinched 19th, 6th and 7th place finishes, to see him sit overall in 18th place, with just three races to go, which will determine the top-10 surfers who will progress to the medal race.
