Davidovich sails into windsurfing medal race

Israeli female cruises though, but there's disappointment for Shahar Zubari.

Maayan Davidovich has been in impressive form in the qualifying races

Maayan Davidovich comfortably booked her place in the medal race of the RS:X Women’s competition after she claimed two second place finishes in the final three races of the opening series.

Going into the fourth day of action, the 28-year-old found herself in sixth place, and she consolidated that with a fifth place finish in the first race of the day, before finishing in the second two races.

The medal race takes place on Sunday, beginning at 18.05 UK time.

However, Shahar Zubari won’t be taking part in the Men’s RS:X Event after a disappointing campaign saw him end the 12 Opening Series races in 17th place. Friday’s last three races saw him finish in 17th, 21st and – saving the best till last – fourth place.
