Ma’ayan Davidovich won her second straight bronze medal at the ISAF Sailing World Championships on Friday.

The 26-year-old was competing in the RS:X competition at the tournament in Santander, Spain, and only missed out on silver on a tie-breaker, having entered the medal race in seventh place.

She said: “I’m disappointed at failing to finish in second place, but after a complicated season with many changes I’m happy that I managed to regain my top form and emulate my achievement from last year.

“My training under new coach Yogev Yosef is going really well and of course I am focused on reaching Rio 2016.”

Her win means there will be an Israeli windsurfer at the women’s competition at the Rio Olympics, though with there being only one representative, she will have to battle Lee Korzits for the coveted place.

Nimrod Mashiah ended the men’s competition in 11th place, thereby guaranteeing Israel will also have a male at the Games.
